Music legend Mariah Carey will receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award this year and is set to deliver a career-spanning medley of her timeless hits. Fans can expect a spectacular celebration of her legacy when the show airs live on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on CBS, simulcast on MTV, and streaming on Paramount+.
Lady Gaga Leads the Pack
Lady Gaga, who last performed at the VMAs in 2020, is returning with 12 nominations, making her the most-nominated artist this year. Following closely behind is her “Die With a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars with 11 nominations. Other top contenders include Kendrick Lamar (10), Sabrina Carpenter (nine), and Ariana Grande & The Weeknd (seven each).
Exciting Performances from Rising Stars and Legends
The 2025 VMAs will feature a wide range of performances, from international icons to rising talents. Tate McRae, Doja Cat, J Balvin featuring DJ Snake, Conan Gray, Post Malone, and Ricky Martin (who will receive the Latin Icon Award) are among the must-watch acts.
For the first time, the VMAs Extended Play Stage will be featured during the main show, spotlighting first-time nominees like Bailey Zimmerman feat. The Kid LAROI, Lola Young, and Megan Moroney.
